Bodega Familia Barberis

The Familia Barberis Winery is located in Lujan De Cuyo, also in the province of Mendoza. Don Humberto Barberis has through this winery fulfilled his dream to construct a wine property able to produce high quality wines.
Located in Las Compuertas in the department of Vistalba, Luján de Cuyo, the age of the winery's estate vineyards reflect the importance of this region for Argentine wine. Sitting in the high Mendoza River, the birthplace of Argentine fine wine, and located at the base of the Andes with an altitude varying from 2,800-3,400 feet above sea level, some of the vines are over 100 years old. An ideal climate of dry, sunny days with cool nights deliver plenty of sunshine as well as temperature swings that great wine grapes require, while ancient irrigation ditches constructed by the indigenous Huarpe indians evenly distribute water. With the philosophy that dictates that "a good wine is born in the vineyard", the Barberis family supervises the work of its own vineyards as well as fruit sourced from vineyards located in Luján de Cuyo, Maipú, San Martín and in the Uco Valley. Cultivation controls, together with constant phytosanitary monitoring, lead to the growth of superior grapes for the elaboration of premium quality wines.

Our selection of Familia Barberis wines:

Blason del Valle Malbec 2006
Kr. 250.-
This dense but fresh Malbec has good plum, berry and earth aromas along with certain
smokiness and a touch of tree bark. It's fairly rich and full across the tongue, showing blackberry, blueberry and chocolate. The finish is warm and spicy, with good girth and weight.

Blason del Valle Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Kr. 255.-
Big and sassy, with smoky aromas of barbecued meat, baked dark fruits, eucalyptus and
leather. In the mouth, it's more sweet than subdued, with cassis, blackberry and hints of
chocolate. Very much in the modern style, with a plush feel and the aftertaste of coffee
meeting cola.

Blason del Valle Chardonnay 2006
Kr. 245.-
At sight this wine presents a greenish yellow colour. In the nose it has tropical fruits notes. In the mouth it shows it's true sole, a wine with freshness and balanced acidity.

Blason del Valle Torrontes 2008
Kr. 250,-
Very elegant, Muscat-like, grape, light and floral with orange blossom notes. If you are up to some diferent kind of white wine, this is the  way to go. Similar to Viognier, you will find here a well structured wine, plenty of diversity on the palate side. Its a kind of latin love relation here. either you love it, or you hate it!

Blason del Valle Tempranillo 2006
Kr. 250.-
An excellent, food-friendly red wine with ripe strawberry and cherry flavours. A firm structure, sweet tannins, and plush mouthfeel. Finishes with a long aftertaste and some tannic grip. The tempranillo grape is traditionally known from and grown in the Spanish Rioja region. Blason's tempranillo is a more then worthy competitor to the Rioja wines.

Familia Barberis Chardonnay 2007
Kr. 340.-
At sight this chardonnay has a bright greenish yellow colour. Its aroma recalls the smell of fruits such as pineapples. In the mouth it has a fresh and light finish with fruity notes. This wine also has a subtle oak presence.

Familia Barberis Malbec 2006
Kr. 350.-
Everything comes together handsomely in this elegant rendering of Argentina's premier
red grape. A full, briary nose with dark-berry, earth and chocolate aromas opens to a
smooth palate, with very good fruit to wood balance. The finish is solid and spicy, with
tangy tannins and pepper notes.

Humberto Barberis Malbec 2004
Kr. 430.-
The Malbec Humberto Barberis has a deep reddish violet colour. In the smell there are emphasized notes of anise, cherries, white pepper and mature red fruits, with a touch of oak, chocolate and vanilla. In the mouth this wine is total, of full and sweet tannins, structured and long. It is an owner of a defined personality, and is a strong and seductive wine.

Humberto Barberis Gran Reserva  Malbec 2004
Kr. 750.-
This is a saturated, deeply coloured heavyweight that could win any wine competition. It is opulent, with oak-based coconut aromas to go along with prune, maple and black cherry. Almost like Port, with blatant wood, dark fruit and large tannins.
